The Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, along with Mullah Abdul Karim Zulfiqar, the Director of Water and Energy for Zabul Province, recently visited the Omari Dam situated in Zabul Province. During the visit, the minister provided essential guidance and recommendations to the relevant officials regarding the maintenance and upkeep of the dam.
Situated merely four kilometers from Qalat, the provincial capital, the Omari Dam project has been executed at a total cost exceeding 127 million Afghanis. Its primary objectives include managing seasonal floods, facilitating irrigation for agricultural lands, and enhancing groundwater resources. This dam stands at a height of 23 meters, boasting a storage capacity of 2.9 million cubic meters of water and a power generation capacity of 61 kilowatts.
Furthermore, the dam can irrigate 560 hectares of agricultural land, a development that will significantly benefit numerous families in the region.
