The Acting Minister of Public Works in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Alhaji Mullah Mohammad Issa Sani, convened a meeting with Mr. Dimitrizhernov, the Russian Ambassador to Kabul, alongside his delegation, at his office. The Deputy Minister of Public Works for Railways was also present during the discussions, where both parties engaged in deliberations on various significant matters.

During the encounter, Acting Minister Alhaji Mullah Mohammad Issa Sani extended a warm welcome to Mr. Dimitrizhernov, underscoring the enduring trade and economic ties between Afghanistan and Russia while expressing gratitude for the country’s collaborative efforts.

The focal points of the dialogue encompassed the refurbishment of the Salang Tunnel, the development of a new tunnel, and the procurement of road construction and railway equipment, machinery, asphalt, railway components, and other related materials from Russia.

In response, Russian Ambassador Dmitry Zhirnov affirmed Russia’s readiness to collaborate with Afghanistan in these domains. Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing economic and trade relations, with plans underway for a senior delegation from the Ministry of Public Works to visit Russia in the near future.
