HERAT, Sep. 28 – Mawlawi Attaullah Omari, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the IEA, visited Herat province today to strengthen agriculture and animal husbandry in the province said the Minster.

Minister Omari told media that the ministry trying to strengthen agriculture and livestock and for creating jobs opportunities for the youth, and want to export Herat’s products, especially saffron, to other countries.

Mawlawi Peer Mohammad Haleemi, head of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the province, says that they are striving to establish cold storage in the province so that farmers can store their products for longer time.
Haleemi added that this year they have received over 150 million AFN, and about 500,000 acres of land that was usurped in the past has been reclaimed due to the efforts of the commission to fight and prevent land usurpation.

Eid Mohammad, one of the farmers who met the Minster, demanded improved seeds and chemical fertilizers, and they standard cold storage facilities to be established in the province to preserve agricultural products.
Minister Omari assured the farmers full cooperation and said that according to the order of supreme leader, we are going to check all the dams and aqueducts in the country and if necessary, aqueducts will be created in Herat.
