As per a stateme t of the ministry of rural rehabilitation and development, Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, the Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), recently visited the ongoing construction site of the Qadis Reservoir Dam in Qadis District, Badghis Province.

This major project aims to effectively manage the water flow of the Qadis River and mitigate the risk of floods in the region.

Situated 70 kilometers away from Qala-i-Naw, the Qadis Reservoir Dam possesses a commendable capacity of 3 million cubic meters and stands at a height of 32 meters. The development costs for this project amount to $12.5 million, allocated from the ministry’s budget for development initiatives.

Once completed, the dam will irrigate around 1400 hectares of agricultural land, facilitating enhanced productivity in the agricultural sector. This, in turn, will generate employment opportunities for the local residents, contributing to their economic well-being.
