During a media briefing at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation disclosed a comprehensive overview of the ministry’s accomplishments in the past year.

 

The ministry reported a total of 12,503 flights from national airports, facilitating the transportation of 1,897,273 passengers, with 774,700 traveling domestically and 1,122,583 internationally.

 

In the same period, 547,038 cargo vehicles transported goods to neighboring countries, while 434,709 vehicles entered Afghanistan, with an additional 41,370 utilizing transportation ports.

 

Inter-provincial transportation was facilitated by 421,895 cargo vehicles and 3,722,283 passenger vehicles, showcasing substantial domestic mobility.

 

Additionally, there were 40,016 transit flights over Afghan airspace, marking a notable increase from the previous year.

 

The ministry successfully managed the safe transport of 30,000 Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia and back to Afghanistan.

 

Key achievements included upgrading Khost Airport to an international standard and servicing various airlines, such as Ariana Afghan Airlines, Kam Air, and eight other international carriers.

 

In the aviation sector, the ministry executed 18 development projects, graduated 112 individuals from the Civil Aviation Institute, recruited 150 students, and filled 500 vacant positions.

 

To enhance operational standards, 66 capacity-building programs were conducted, and skilled staff were stationed at airports nationwide to ensure quality services.

 

Furthermore, the ministry assisted in the free repatriation of numerous returnees to their home regions from Spin Boldak, Torkham, and Kabul.

 

Moreover, the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing allocated over 3,500 jeribs of land in Kabul province to the Ministry of Transport and Aviation for the construction of modern transportation terminals.
