Lashkar Gah Municipality Holds Self Accountability Meeting

HELMAND, Feb. 24 – Lashkar Gah Municipality of Helmand Province held yesterday a meeting at the Star Hotel in Helmand to discuss its ongoing projects and plans for the next fiscal year with general public.

The meeting was attended by Haji Ahmad Saeed (Ansari), Mayor of Lashkar Gah Municipality, Lashkar Gah Municipality administrative staff,  lawyers, officers, managers, officials of various government agencies and residents of the city.

After the meeting started with the recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran, the Mayor of Lashkar Gah started his speech thanked the participants and said we are sharing information regarding collecting and utilizing of each penny.

Later on a presentation prepared by Engineer Mohammad Abbas (Zirak), gave information about the tax on cleaning products or municipal services. he said in response to the questions of the citizens about this tax. The money raised will be used by the Lashkar Gah Municipality to provide municipal services, build roads, install lights in the city, build a shed and use it for various other purposes for urban development. He said that with the arrival of the Emirate, the Lashkar Gah Municipality has resumed work on the green belt. He informed the participants about the construction of 600m culverts and staining of roads, construction of new 2 meter ditches in the second district and other similar activities.

Mr. Zirak also provided information about the projects to be started in the next fiscal years. He said that Lashkar Gah Municipality will start 20 projects in the next financial year, including 150000 meters of roads leveling, procurement of goods for dozens of parks in the city, construction of 5 sets of men’s and women’s toilets in different parts of the city, construction of 16 Km concrete culverts, construction of gymnasium for Helmand athletes and many other projects. Afterwards, the revenue manager of Lashkar Gah Municipality presented information about the revenue of the year and said that Lashkar Gah Municipality has collected more than 79 million AFN fixed and non-fixed revenue so far.

Mr. Sailani briefed the participants about the expenditure and savings of the budget for the current fiscal year.

At the end of the meeting, some employees, officers and managers of Lashkar Gah Municipality were given letters of appreciation and a badge of honor.

The meeting ended with a prayer speech.
