Large area purged as base, 12 posts overrun in Faryab

FARYAB, May. 22 – Amid full swing of spring offensive ‘Al Khandaq Operatoins’, Mujahideen were preparing for attacks enemy positions in Ghalbyan area of Gurziwan district last night, but enemy fled in the dark of night and abandoned a military base and 12 check posts.

The said area which consists of more than 7500 families came entirely under the control of Mujahideen.

According to details, 52 RPG rounds, 17 boxes of Dshk round, 4 boxes of PK machine gun rounds and other equipment were recovered from the posts.

This comes meanwhile, 2 more check posts have been overrun in Qarmaqul district, killing 6 gunmen and seizing a sizable amount of war spoils.
