As per Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal the deputy spokeman of the foreign ministry, Japan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Takayoshi Kurama, held talks with the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, Japanese assistance, and key international matters.
At the outset, Foreign Minister Muttaqi highlighted recent diplomatic progress, stating that the IEA’s engagements with regional and global partners are advancing positively. He reiterated the Afghan government’s commitment to balanced, constructive, and economy-focused foreign relations.
Muttaqi described the recent high-level Afghan delegation’s visit to Japan as a significant step toward enhancing ties and stressed the need for sustained engagement to boost practical cooperation. He also emphasized Afghanistan’s improved security environment, inviting Japanese investment in major development projects.
Ambassador Kurama welcomed the Afghan delegation’s visit to Japan as a positive development, expressing optimism about its impact on bilateral relations. He commended the IEA’s efforts in combating narcotics cultivation and pledged Japan’s support for alternative livelihood programs.
Additionally, Kurama referenced the Doha Process working groups, expressing hope for productive collaboration between Afghanistan and the international community.
The meeting underscored both sides’ commitment to fostering mutual cooperation and addressing shared challenges.
