Islamic Emirate Appoints New Consul General to Mumbai

According to the Deputy Spokesperson of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Dr. Hafiz Ikramuddin Kamil has beenbappointed as the interim head of the Consulate General in Mumbai, India.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this announcement, referencing a report in the Sunday Guardian newspaper in India which mentioned the Indian government considering the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s request to receive the diplomat in Mumbai.

This appointment signifies the first instance of a new Afghan diplomat being assigned to India following the reestablishment of the Islamic Emirate.
