Iran transferred 211 Afghan prisoners to authorities in Afghanistan via the Silk Road crossing in Nimroz province. The prisoners, convicted of various crimes, were handed over to a delegation led by Alhaj Mawlawi Mohammad Yousef “Mastri,” Director General of the Prisons Reform authority.
The transfer, facilitated by the Afghan Prisoners Transfer Committee, will see the individuals moved to prisons closer to their families.
The prisoners will be provided with necessary living facilities and their human and religious rights will be respected. Iran has committed to further prisoner transfers in the near future.
