The country’s foreign minister has once again asked the international community to immediately lift the sanctions and limitations placed on the Islamic Emirate. These remarks were delivered by Amir Khan Muttaqi the other day during a condolence gathering with the relatives of the 18 martyred Afghans immigrants in Bulgaria.

He added that the international sanctions imposed on Afghans are cruel. It is tyranny, in my opinion, for those nations to have put an embargo on the downtrodden Afghan people. There is no clause in any international agreement that forbids a country from doing something that will have an impact on everyone.

A number of locals also criticise the international community for placing constraints on the Afghan government. The public criticises these bans and claims that they have had a negative impact on not only the government but also the lives of  citizens and have created several issues for them.

An Afghan living in Kabul, Mahmoud Khan, argues that in addition to economic issues, international embargoes have made life difficult for Afghans. The international embargoes are one of the causes of Afghanistan’s current poor economic status. People are having issues, and many young people desire to work abroad as a result of these embargoes and the labour shortage.

Abdul Basir Stanakzai, a national businessman, claims that the international sanctions against Afghanistan are a grave injustice. It has impeded our operation is the transmission of funds. Abdul Qahar Sarwari, a human rights analyst, adds that restrictions that directly endanger Afghans’ lives ought to be lifted.

Any problems between the Islamic Emirate and the international community should be resolved through dialogue and interaction, but the restrictions that affect people’s lives should be removed.

Currently, Afghans are facing many problems. Not only the Afghan government is asking for the lifting of these restrictions, but the leaders of Russia, China, Pakistan and other countries have repeatedly called on the United Nations and the United States to remove the restrictions imposed on Afghanistan and free its frozen assets and interact closely with the Afghan government.
