KABUL, Oct. 20 – Haji Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, adressed participents of a meeting arranged on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Mr. Baradar Akhund said: Natural disasters are from Allah (SWT), and the duty of servants is to take measures.

Unfortunately, the ongoing climate change and recent natural disasters have caused heavy and untimely rains in Afghanistan, as well as in other parts of the world, which have resulted in severe floods and human and financial losses to our people.

Also, severe earthquakes occurred in the south-east of our country, which affected people greatly.

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs added that the IEA tried to help the affected people and save their lives by using its existing possibilities. We thank all the responsible organizations for their round the clock hard work.

As a government, we are obliged to take care of the victims and be fully prepared to help them in the future. Now the IEA has developed sufficient ability to deal with, he added.
