The Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr. Pir Krahnbohl, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi. During the meeting, Mr. Krahnbohl highlighted the various activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan, focusing on healthcare, prosthetic limb manufacturing, and other humanitarian endeavors. He expressed contentment with the current state of security and stability in Afghanistan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the ICRC’s long-standing assistance to vulnerable groups in Afghanistan, particularly the sick and disabled, considering it a source of pride and gratitude for the Afghan people. He also requested the ICRC’s assistance in determining the status of Afghan prisoners held in other nations.
Mr. Krahnbohl acknowledged that challenges, such as restricted access to prisons in certain countries, have impeded efforts to locate Afghan prisoners and communicate with their families. He emphasized the organization’s autonomy in decision-making and affirmed their commitment to maintaining ongoing operations in Afghanistan.
