The recent report published by UNAMA’s political representative office for Afghanistan concerning the situation of women has been deemed highly inaccurate. It is important to note that some time ago, the central spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mr. Zabihullah Mujahid, acknowledged the temporary detainment of several girls at their parents’ request, who were subsequently released after receiving necessary guidance and counseling. However, the recent statements made by UNAMA’s political representative office, suggesting that these girls were apprehended from specific ethnic areas like Hazara or Tajik, are completely unfounded.

Afghanistan is an Islamic country where nearly 100% of the population adheres to Islamic principles and follows its laws and regulations. The observance of hijab is one of the divine obligations imposed upon Muslim women and girls. Islamic texts have clearly elucidated that Muslim women are obligated to cover their entire bodies, from head to toe, without any exceptions.

The Afghan people’s 20-year struggle and jihad were aimed at ending occupation and eradicating corruption, oppression, crimes, and immorality within their cities. During this journey, sincere Mujahideen willingly sacrificed their lives, dedicating themselves to upholding the values of modesty and honor cherished by their sisters and mothers. I address the sisters directly, emphasizing that you, dear mothers and sisters, were raised within an Islamic society, just as your fathers and mothers were brought up within Muslim families. Therefore, instead of imitating Western culture and customs, it is crucial to embrace and uphold your own Islamic culture and traditions.

It is disheartening that in anti-Islamic countries, veiled Muslim women have their rights, including the right to wear hijab, forcibly stripped away from them. However, human rights institutions and the United Nations remain silent on these matters, failing to condemn such actions. Yet, when Afghan Muslim women are compelled to observe hijab, it often provokes a reaction from the United Nations, highlighting a one-sided perspective on the issue.
