Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, concerted efforts have been made to enhance the security and defense sectors of the country. The authorities have worked tirelessly to ensure comprehensive security, create a safe and secure environment for citizens, and facilitate development opportunities across the nation.

At a recent event held at the Government Media and Information Center to showcase the accomplishments of various governmental institutions, officials from the Ministries of National Defense and Interior Affairs presented their reports, outlining the accomplishments of both ministries.

According to the officials, following the victory in Afghanistan, complete security has been restored across the country, with a notable reduction in combat activities and civilian casualties nearing zero.

Moreover, as per a decree issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, decisive actions were undertaken to eliminate the cultivation, production, trafficking, and consumption of narcotics. Opium poppy fields were destroyed, addicts were provided with treatment, and strict legal actions were enforced against offenders.

The following are key accomplishments of the Ministries of Defense and Interior over the past year:

The key achievements of the Ministries of Defense and Interior Affairs over the past year include:

1. Military Operations: The Islamic National Army executed 813,352 operations, leading to the confiscation of 588 light weapons, 60 heavy weapons, 1,515 kilograms of explosives, 239 hand grenades, 44 communication devices, 40 binoculars, 386 vehicles, and 1,982 motorcycles. In addition, 1,383 landmines were safely neutralized.

2. Border Security: Several security posts and battalions were established to safeguard the country’s borders and prevent security incidents.

3. Air Force Accomplishments: The Air Force carried out 4,218 operational and training flights, restored a Black Hawk helicopter, activated the Air University, and facilitated the transportation of 77 martyrs and 567 injured individuals affected by natural disasters.

4. Military Education: Over the past year, 500 high school graduates were enrolled in the National Military Academy, 120 individuals were recruited into the Air University, and 390 were admitted to the National Military Academy. In addition, 5,414 individuals graduated from the National Defense University, while 12,781 military personnel completed various training courses. Moreover, 73 students graduated from military medical programs.

5. Crime Reduction: The national crime rate decreased by 30% over the past year. A total of 38 cases of abduction were reported, and security forces conducted 250 operations against kidnappers, resulting in the arrest of 76 suspects and the deaths of 34 in armed encounters.

6. Public Security for Events: Major religious, national, and ceremonial events were held in complete security, allowing large numbers of citizens to participate with confidence.

7. Protection of Economic and Development Projects: Security was ensured for critical economic and development projects, facilitating investment and the registration of the country’s borders. Public services were improved, and balanced development efforts were supported. Notably, 70 major infrastructure projects were safeguarded by the National Police over the past year.

8. Professionalization of Security Forces: Significant steps were taken to enhance the professionalism and capacity of the security forces. National Police training centers were further equipped, and the National Police have demonstrated the ability to thwart any malicious intentions of hostile elements.

9. Training and Recruitment: A total of 450 students graduated from in-service and commissioner training programs with bachelor’s degrees, while 673 individuals, including 325 women, participated in capacity-building programs. Basic, specialized, and non-commissioned officer training was provided to 24,000 personnel, and 32,000 others are currently enrolled in training programs. In addition, 20,515 individuals were appointed to officer positions, 15,060 to non-commissioned officer roles, and 35,584 soldiers were recruited.

10. Counter-Narcotics Operations: A total of 3,643 tons of narcotics were seized, 790 factories producing drugs, alcohol, and illicit tablets were destroyed, and 10,564 suspects were arrested. Furthermore, 27,891 drug addicts were admitted to treatment centers, and 17,651 hectares of land were cleared of opium cultivation.

11. Counter-Smuggling Efforts: Efforts to combat smuggling resulted in the prevention of the illicit transfer of $1.95 million, €845,000, 4.83 million Saudi riyals, and 100,000 dirhams at the country’s airports. In addition, 344 kilograms of narcotics and over one kilogram of gold were confiscated, leading to the arrest of 591 individuals.

12. Public Service Delivery: Over the past year, key public services such as the issuance of passports and traffic documentation were enhanced. A total of 1.745 million passports were issued, 500,000 vehicles were registered in the system, and temporary license plates were issued to 250,000 vehicles, with the distribution process ongoing.

13. Governance and Coordination: Under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, a coordination meeting was held with central and provincial authorities to address challenges, enhance local governance, improve service delivery, and ensure effective coordination with the public.

The protection of national values and sovereignty, support for the enforcement of law and security, collaboration with sectoral departments, assistance to victims of natural disasters, and coordination with relevant authorities have remained top priorities for the Ministries of Defense and Interior Affairs. Through sound policies and effective strategies, these ministries have made significant progress in strengthening the security and defense sectors while advancing the professionalization of the National Police and the Islamic National Army.
