AFGHANISTAN, Feb. 16 – Today, a high level delegation led by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the IEA, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Ambassadors of 16 European countries in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The meeting focused on human and economic situation in Afghanistan, human rights, humanitarian aid, political relations, education and social affairs, teaching staff salaries and positive developments.

 All participants pledged to make all possible efforts for the overall well-being of the Afghan people, adding that the international community is ready to take effective steps for providing humanitarian assistance.

The delegation of the Islamic Emirate, in response to some security concerns of the participants, assured that the government would not allow anyone to use Afghan soil to the detriment of anyone.

Discussions also focused on sanctions, frozen assets and the US president’s latest move.

 Foreign Minister said: “It is not acceptable for us to spend this money on humanitarian aid or compensation.

 US Charge d’Affaires John Johnson clarified: President Biden’s remarks about the distribution of the frozen money have been misinterpreted in the media and a mechanism is being worked out which is likely to give a portion of the money to Da Afghanistan Bank.

 In the end, the meeting was considered as an effective and constructive mean for building relationships and should be continued.
