Representatives from the Herat Public Works Department have confirmed that the initial phase of the fourth segment of the Herat-Khawf railway has progressed significantly, reaching approximately 75% completion. The outstanding tasks for this segment are expected to be finalized within the upcoming five months.
The engineer overseeing the development of the fourth phase of the Herat-Khawf railway stated that within just one month, a total of 10,867 tons of commercial commodities, including cement and rail ties, were imported through this railway from Jeddah.
Moreover, Maulvi Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, highlighted that alongside the project advancement, the transportation of commercial goods has notably risen. He further mentioned that upon the railway’s completion, expenses related to transporting commercial and passenger goods are anticipated to decrease by 50%.
Furthermore, traders have voiced contentment regarding the reduced transportation costs facilitated by the Herat-Khawf railway line. They emphasized that this railway line enables them to transport goods economically and securely.
According to insights shared by officials from the Public Works Department, the initial phase of the fourth portion of the Herat-Khawf railway extends 43 kilometers, with 30 kilometers already completed. The entire section is projected to become fully operational within the forthcoming five months.
