HERAT, Sep. 11 – Da Afghan Breshna Sherkat Officials in Herat Province say that the department has collected over 6 billion in revenue during a working year through electricity bills.
Mawlawi Khair Mohammad Meraj, the head of the department in Herat, in an interview with Bakhter News Agency, said that they have converted 22,000 analog and complications meters to digital and standard meters in the course of a year.
Two districts of Herat have also benefited from electricity and now the process of distributing meters is underway in Kashk-e-Kehne and Cheshte Sharif districts, he added.

According to him, the department has collected about 2 billion Afghanis in doubt from the high-rank officials of the ex-government.

Meraj stated that around 850 meters inside the city were identified and fixed as tampered meters and 78 million Afghanis were compensated.

The department has been able to reduce 10 percent of the electricity waste in this province within a year, he added.
He said that meanwhile, the residents of Keehssan and Bandar Islam Qala districts are provided electricity network, adding that the resident pays their bills based on their meter’s expenses.
