HERAT, Jan. 24 –  50 women had been trained in capacity building, management and leadership, self-confidence, environment and health in various courses of a year and six months duration, said Valisha Shah Bahreh, head of the Bahreh Cultural Center and an advisor to the Afghan Institute.
Maulana Naeem ul-Haq Haqqani, Head of Information and Culture of Herat Province, while appreciating the launch of such training courses, stressed the importance of women’s rights in Islam and the role of purity in the development of Islamic and commercial beliefs in the time of the Prophet.
Maulana Haqqani, in addition to expressing the position of women in Islamic societies, stressed that the holy religion of Islam is valuable in protecting women’s rights within the framework of Islamic law and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to protecting the rights and status of women in accordance with Sharia law.
Maulana Haqqani added that work is underway to establish the right to work and study for women.
