KABUL, Oct. 03 -The special representative of EU to Afghanistan, Tomas Niklasson, & accompanying delegation called on FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

At the meeting, Mr. Niklasson condemned the attack on Kaj educational center in Kabul & called it an attack against Afghans.

He said the EU, US & partners have concluded that humanitarian aid alone cannot solve the economic problems in Afghanistan & there remains a need for development work.

Referring to sanctions on Afghanistan, the EU delegation added that Afghans should not face collective punishment as this measure is counterproductive for peace & combatting insecurity.

FM Muttaqi said ISIS & similar groups have been hit hard in Afghanistan & lack direct confrontation capabilities, hence are now targeting defenseless civilians.

Taking the existing circumstances into consideration, Mr Muttaqi said, that realities should be acknowledged & engagement with one another should be conducted its light.

Elaborating further, Mr. Muttaqi said that we have had many achievements which the West has overlooked & not responded to positively, therefore we must define a clear pathway for positive engagement and moving forward.
