The Afghan delegation, headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, along with ministers from Mines and Petroleum, Communications and Information Technology, Deputy Ministers from Interior and Industry and Commerce, the Governor of Herat, and various officials, converged with the Turkmen delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Murdove, the Deputy Ministers, cabinet members, and other senior officials at the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan border.
Both parties inspected the railway station, TAPI pipeline, and TAP power projects on either side of the shared border in Torghundi, assessing the readiness of both sides for the imminent commencement of TAPI pipeline operations.
The Afghan Foreign Minister assured his Turkmen counterpart that relevant Afghan government bodies have finalized their preparations for extending the pipeline within Afghanistan and are poised to initiate practical work promptly.
Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi also expressed appreciation for Turkmenistan’s investments in the railway station and pipeline extension, highlighting the positive impact these initiatives would have on the economies of both nations and the broader region. During the visit, the Turkmen Foreign Minister disclosed to the Afghan delegation all the groundwork accomplished in Turkmenistan’s territory to kick off operations for TAPI project. Rashid Mardove affirmed his country’s wholehearted commitment to commencing construction of the railway and railway station in Afghanistan shortly, with the Noor-ul Jihad substation set to be operationalized.
