KABUL, Feb. 05 – Foreign Minister of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi welcomed the delegation and talked about the historical ties, religious, humanitarian and climatic commonalities between the two countries and expressed his gratitude for the support of the ruling government and people of Turkey.

Mr. Kerem Kinik commend Afghan people for their warm welcome, called Afghanistan a strategic partner country, assured their full support, and expressed their gratitude for the unforgettable cooperation and sacrifices of the Afghans in the Great Battle of Chanak Qala with the Turks in 1915.

Under Mr, Erdogan’s special guidance, 750 tons of donations including food and winter supplies, clothing, medicine, and medical supplies, have been collected and will be arrived by 2 trains shortly via the Tor Ghondi port soon, he added.

Mr Kinik also noted the Afghan Red Crescent’s capacity building to encourage the international community to increase its assistance in this area.

Mr. Muttaqi appreciated them for their help and goodwill and suggested that it would be better to buy donor items within Afghan market if available so to help the Afghan economy and decrease the overall cost as well. He also demanded that visas and other facilities be increased for Afghan refugees, students, businessmen and Afghans seeking medical treatment in Turkey.

The Foreign Minister noted that the Afghan government is ready to provide investment opportunities to the Turkish government and businessmen in Afghanistan in order to further strengthen bilateral trade and relations.
