During this meeting, they deliberated on bilateral political and economic ties as well as regional affairs between their two nations.

The Afghan Foreign Minister emphasized the significance of the Moscow format to the Afghan government, proposing its transformation into a mechanism for fostering cooperation among Afghanistan and regional countries. He also touched upon recent political and economic advancements in Afghanistan and neighboring nations, expressing optimism about enhancing diplomatic relations with Russia.

Furthermore, the Afghan Foreign Minister highlighted the improved security and stability in Afghanistan, which has created favorable investment prospects in the country. Sergey Lavrov insisted on unfreezing Afghanistan’s Central Bank reserves and stressed that engagement with Afghanistan should be independent of other issues.

Additionally, the Russian Foreign Minister underlined his country’s commitment to strengthening political and economic ties with Afghanistan, mentioning Russian companies’ interest in investing in various sectors like agriculture, mining, and transportation within Afghanistan.
