KABUL, Aug. 08 –  The officials and players of the national cricket team met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, today.

According to a statement of foreign ministry after welcoming the players in the meeting, the foreign minister expressed his happiness that Afghanistan has a strong and proud cricket team and called all the players a pride for the country.

Minister Muttaqi said to the officials and players of the cricket board: Cricket and other sports can be the cause of positive relations and closeness between peoples and systems at the regional and global level, for good and healthy health.

Also, Muttaqi recommended the players commitment to Islamic and national interests at home and abroad and said good obedience to your organization is the secret of your success. Exemplify piety, Islamic ethics and patriotism.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs asked the players to pay more attention to harmony and sincerity among themselves and to continue their sports education in order to serve the country at the national and international levels, to have achievements and honors he said; Players should understand that the Afghan government and people are cooperating and standing behind them.

The acting chairman of the cricket board, Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, and the team captain, Mr. Hashmatullah Shahidi, and all the players thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs for always encouraging the players and continuing their cooperation with the cricket board administration.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ashraf shared some requests and needs of the players with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, which was assured of all kinds of cooperation by foreign minister.

In the last part of the meeting, all the players in their turn thanked the Islamic Emirate for the financial support of the Cricket Board and serious attention to the abilities of the players.

At the end of the meeting, Muttaqi wished success and safety to the Afghan cricket players who are busy in foreign leagues and prayed that Allah may make the Afghan team shine and prosper in every field of Islam, the country and the Islamic system.
