Today, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, Mr. Li Chun, and General Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China, met with Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan.

 

The meeting encompassed extensive discussions regarding cultural exchanges between Afghanistan and China, safeguarding antiquities in the Miss Aynak region, and enhancing human capacity through technical training programs for the Afghan government.

 

At the onset, the Foreign Minister expressed optimism that the extraction and processing of copper mines in the Miss Aynak area, with the assurance of antiquities’ safety, would commence promptly.

 

Similarly, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi highlighted the significance of the Wakhan Corridor in linking Afghanistan and China, underscoring that the corridor’s reconstruction stands as a key priority for the Afghan government.

 

The Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of China characterized the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and China as favorable, expressing delight in returning to Afghanistan and exploring various cultural sites.

 

Mr. Li Chun emphasized that cultural collaboration between the two nations could pave the way for cooperation across multiple domains. He cited the Mes Aynak project as a prime example of cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Afghanistan and China, indicating that experts in mining and cultural affairs were convening to ensure that excavation activities at Mes Aynak mine priject commence in a manner that guarantees the safety of ancient artifacts.
