KABUL, May. 18 – During this phone call, the foreign ministers of the two countries discussed and exchanged views on the issues of interest between the two countries, and the expansion of cooperation in various fields, especially trade, electric energy, railway, common border, water and issue of Afghan prisoners in Iran, was emphasized.

 

Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the IEA expressed its satisfaction with the recent fruitful visit of the Afghan trade delegation headed by the country’s Minister of Industry and Trade to Iran and stated that the railway administrations of the two countries are in close cooperation and understanding in the implementation of the Khawaf-Herat railway project.

 

In explaining the border cooperation between the two sides, the Minister of Foreign Affairs considered the security of the common border between the two countries to be important and emphasized on joint efforts in this field.

While explaining the problems of water scarcity and decrease of rainfall in the western regions of the country, foreign minister emphasized on the official position of the Afghan side in the framework of the existing agreement between the governments on the issue of water.

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Dr. Hossein Amirabdollahian, while emphasizing the acceleration of cooperation between the two countries, expressed on having good relations with the people and government of Afghanistan and said that the current relations between Afghanistan and Iran should not be affected by negative propaganda and he promised to cooperate in the field of dealing with the problems of Afghan prisoners.

 

To the end, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi stressed on having and strengthening friendly relations and good neighborliness between the two countries and added that no one should be allowed to harm the improving relations between the two countries and both sides should prevent Pay serious attention to negative advertisements and disturbing comments.
