The resumption of exports through the Herat-Khaf railway marks a significant milestone. After a five-year hiatus, the country’s first commercial cargo was successfully transported to Turkey via this railway route.

The Afghanistan railway Authority (ARA) officials have announced that a daily export and import train service will now operate between Iran and Afghanistan through the Herat-Khaf railway.

In the recent export operation, over 1100 tons of sugarcane were transported on the train to the Turkish city of Belgic, signifying a promising start to renewed trade activities along this route.
