A delegation from the Ministry of Borders, Tribes, and Tribal Affairs embarked on a comprehensive study and investigation of the Durand Line and the official boundaries of three districts within the province.

The head of the Ministry of Border Investigations, Engineer Ghulam Siddique Sabawon, accompanied by a delegation, traveled to Wakhan, Zaibak, and Kiran Manjan districts to conduct inspections, studies, and research.

Notably, Wakhan District shares borders with Tajikistan (434.62 km), China (96 km), Jammu and Kashmir (102 km), and Pakistan (246.01 km), all of which were thoroughly examined and investigated.

This investigation holds particular significance as no visits to the hypothetical Durand Line and border regions have taken place for approximately three decades. During the research, attention was given to studying and exploring noteworthy areas of the country, including the Wakhans and the Pamir.

The Pamir region, situated in the Wakhan district of Badakhshan province, is often referred to as the “roof of the world” due to its prominence. Its importance has been emphasized by Minister of National Defense, Maulvi Muhammad Yaqub Mujahid, who stated that Wakhan is a prime example of Afghanistan and will be safeguarded against any harm.

Wakhan, an integral district of Badakhshan Province, shares borders with the Fictious Durand Line of Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir, China, and Tajikistan, making it an essential area of consideration.
