Enemy abandon key check post in Nahr Siraj, 3 APCs destroyed

HELMAND, Aug. 12 – Officials say at noon hours on Thursday enemy troops escorted by armored tanks, APCs and ranger pickups arriving Nahr Siraj region’s Shindak Manda and Yaklang areas from Kandahar and capital Lashkargah for unblocking the rout, faced tough resistance of Mujahideen and sparking heavy clashes that continued till early night hours, forcing the enemy to flee without opening the rout.
During gunfight 2 APCs were destroyed in Shishak area by and another APC in Dorahi area by roadside bomb attacks.
According to details police have fled and abandoned a strategic base in in Popalzo Shakh area, Nahr Siraj region of Gerihsk district overnight, bringing a large area under the control of Mujahideen.
