Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, as part of a high-ranking delegation from the Islamic Emirate, led discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan afternoon hours today.

 

During the visit to Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund engaged in talks with Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev. The agenda encompassed enhancing trade and transit relations and fostering Uzbek investments in Afghanistan.

 

Uzbekistan expressed readiness to establish a collaborative trade zone along the border of both nations to bolster trade ties with Kabul. Within this zone, infrastructures such as pine nut and cotton processing facilities, packaging and logistics centers, and multiple food production plants are slated for construction.

 

The Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Uzbek investors’ preparedness to engage in joint ventures with the Islamic Emirate, focusing on oil and gas exploration and extraction in Afghanistan. Additionally, proposals encompassed investments in Afghan industry, including the establishment of a cement factory in Samangan province. Noting advancements in exploring the Toti field, the Uzbek delegation anticipates initiating extraction operations imminently.

 

In response, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs from the Islamic Emirate welcomed Uzbekistan’s propositions and pledged complete cooperation in these domains.
