KABUL, Jan. 24 – Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with Takashi Okada, Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan, at the presidential palace, today.

Expressing gratitude for Japan’s humanitarian aid, Mr. Hanafi called the relations between the two countries historic and stressed the need to strengthen and expand them further.
“The new government is determined to treat all Afghans well and equally, eradicate corruption and make serious efforts to prevent the cultivation, processing, and trafficking of narcotics,” said the deputy PM adding that there is no threat from Afghanistan to the countries of the world.
Takashi Okada, Japan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, called Afghanistan’s stability important to Japan, and pledged continued assistance to Afghanistan.
The Japanese ambassador called the successful holding of the Afghanistan Economic Conference important for Afghanistan to achieve self-sufficiency and termed the efforts very promising.
“We are preparing for the opening of the Japanese Embassy in Kabul as soon as possible,” said Takashi Okada, expressing confidence in security throughout Afghanistan.
In the end, Takashi Okada expressed hope that the schools would be open to all students from the new educational year.
