KABUL, Feb. 05 – Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Administrative Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with Kerem Kinik, president of the Turkish Red Crescent Society, Vice President of the International Red Crescent Society and his accompanying delegation this afternoon.

“We have come for humanitarian purposes and many charities in Turkey want to help the Afghan Red Crescent,” said Kerem Kinik adding that we stand with our colleagues in Afghanistan and we are committed to building their capacity.

He informed about 750 tons of turkish aid of Food and clothing will reach Afghanistan through the port of Turgundi soon and the second part of this aid, which will be 500 tons, will be transferred to Afghanistan by the end of this month.
The deputy PM expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian aid of the President, the Red Crescent and the Turkish people, saying that the Islamic Emirate has taken action to collect and treat five million drug addicts in Afghanistan, one million of whom are women and children, but it needs the help and cooperation of the international community, especially the Turkish Red Crescent.
Recently, Mawlawi Mati al-Haq Khalis, the head of the Afghan Red Crescent, thanked the Turkish Red Crescent for its assistance and said: “We are fully prepared for the delivery and transparent distribution of the aid of this organization that is to be transferred to Afghanistan.”

Emphasizing the importance of helping treat addicts and their families, the Turkish delegation said that the Turkish Red Crescent Social Centers are working with Afghanistan’s Merston (Social Welfare Center) on a program to help orphans so that these children can be educated and treated to become important members of society.
