KABUL, Aug. 23 – Mr. Marks Putzel, Deputy of the United Nations Political Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) met with Mr. Alhaji Shermohammad Abbas Stanakzi, the Political Deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal the deputy spkesman of the ministry.

In addition to expressing his views on banking limitations, strategies to stop the growing and smuggling of poppies, and climate change, Mr Stanakzi greeted the accompanying delegation and the Deputy Director of UNAMA.

According to Mr. Stankzai, we want to put an end to the Afghan war and begin a new chapter in diplomatic relations with the rest of the world. We also want to find a solution to the challenges we currently face via conversation, and we hope that the other side would do the same.

The government of Afghanistan and the international community share responsibility for the treatment of drug users, he continued, adding that poppy farming in the country has been completely eradicated.

 

Mr. Stankzai asked them not to spare their help in promoting the alternative of poppy cultivation, removing banking restrictions and fighting climate change.

Marks Putzel, the deputy head of the United Nations political mission in Afghanistan, praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and added that UNAMA is trying to create a basis for international cooperation with Afghanistan and promised to work together.
