The Ministry of Public Works announced that Mullah Bakhtur Rahman Sharaft, the Deputy Minister of Railways, met with Azad Atamradov, the Director of Turkmenistan Railways, and his team in Kabul.

This two-day meeting involved in-depth discussions between the joint delegations of both nations to enhance bilateral railway cooperation. On the initial day of discussions, the parties deliberated on the expansion of the Torghundi station and the extension of the Torghundi-Herat railway line, with the initial segment stretching 22 kilometers to Sanobar.

During this session, the Turkmenistan delegation expressed a keen interest in investing in Afghanistan’s railway infrastructure. They specifically highlighted their interest in enhancing the Torghundi station and constructing the initial 22-kilometer railway segment between Torghundi and Herat. The delegation confirmed their readiness to invest in this sector and recover their expenses from the revenues generated once the railway line is operational.
