KABUL, July. 19 – Today the Chargé d’Affaires of the Norwegian Embassy for Afghanistan, Mr. Paul Klouman Bekken, called on IEA Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, said a statement of the foreign ministry.

 

In this meeting, Mr. Bekken acknowledged effective steps taken by the Islamic Emirate directed at ensuring security & combating drugs, adding that Afghan farmers should be assisted with alternative livelihoods, the statement added.

 

Accord8ng to statement Mr. Stanekzai said that the Afghan government remains committed to eradication of drugs as proven in practice, however, the international community has not yet fulfilled it’s own responsibility in this regard.

 

The meeting also focused on other issues of mutual interest where it was emphasized that issues can only be resolved through direct talks.
