Deputy Director General FAO calls on Deputy Foreign Minister

KABUL, Oct. 09 – Mrs. Beth Bechdol, the Deputy Director General FAO, and accompanying delegation called on IEA Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, said Abdul Qahar Balkhi at X.

At the outset, Mr. Stanekzai expressed gratitude to FAO for their continued cooperation, adding that IEA pays special attention to agriculture, irrigation & food security, however there still exists need for assistance from international aid agencies.

Hence, IEA expects FAO focus its assistance on infrastructural projects, the principle of sustainability & requirements of the deputy Foreign Minister Stanekzai underscored the resumption of climate change and environmental projects, and focus on alternative livelihoods to replace narcotics.

Mrs. Bechdol said that this was the highest-level delegation to visit Afghanistan in the last 20 years, & is determined to continue & expand assistance at technical level, reformed seeds, animal health, irrigation, climate change, mechanization of agriculture, and other spheres.
