Delegation of the Islamic Emirate met Ali Shamkhani, head of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran

Earlier noon today, a high-level delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan led by Mullah Baradar Akhund, the Political Deputy and Head of the Political Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran and met with Ali Shamkhani, the head of the Supreme National Security Council and a number of other senior Iranian officials.

The meeting focused on border issues, movement of Afghan traders and travelers, as well as matters of Afghan refugees in that country and the strengthening of positive relations between the two countries were discussed.

The two sides also discussed the importance of intra-Afghan dialogue and lasting peace and security in Afghanistan and the region.

The delegation of the Islamic Emirate will also hold meetings with a number of other senior Iranian officials in that country and necessary steps will be taken to ensure the continuation of good relations between the two countries.
