On Friday, 15/12/2023 returning emigrants arrived in the country through various routes. The committees in Torkham provided essential services and support in different areas. Here is a summary of the Friday’s activities:
NANGARHAR
Torkham (Durand Fictitious Line):
Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:
A total of 63 families, comprising 126 individuals, were registered and underwent biometric procedures at Torkham.
Transport and Trnasfer Committee:
During the day, 109 families consisting of 571 members were safely transported from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul. An amount of 147,400 Afghanis was provided to cover transportation expenses.
Finance Management Committee:
The Financial Affairs Committee disbursed a total of 1,310,000 Afghanis to support 131 families, providing each with 10,000 Afghanis.
Temporary Settlement Committee:
In Torkham, 25 families were accommodated in temporary settlement camps. Although the number of individuals in these families was zero, the issue of water supply has been resolved.
Services and Health Affairs Committee:
Various services, including healthcare, were offered to returning refugees in Torkham Omari Camp. The following assistance was provided:
– Food: 4,000 meals and 135,000 liters of clean water were distributed in Torkham camps.
– Food items and clothes: Distribution included (300) blankets, (100) packages of clothes (containing baby blankets, hand wipes, socks, and bunnies), (100) packages of raw food items, (400) packages of mineral water, and (50) cartons of hand washing liquid.
– Communications: (399) SIM cards were distributed to returnees, enabling them to access free minutes and internet bundles.
Job Seeking Committee:
The employment committee recorded 293 individuals in Torkham, including 9 bachelor’s degree holders, 2 post-baccalaureate degree holders, 3 memorizers, 156 unskilled workers, and 123 professionals.
Additionally, public awareness sessions were conducted for 125 children on topics such as explosives, hygiene, child protection, and Afghanistan. Entertainment programs were also arranged to promote mental well-being. Two children who were separated from their families were reunited and returned to their loved ones.
Information and Public Awareness Committee:
In Torkham, the returned refugees received public awareness sessions, as before, where valuable information and guidance were provided.
Kandahar
Spin Boldc (Durand Fictitious Line)
A total of 158 families, comprising 790 individuals, returned to the country through Spin Boldak and were successfully registered.
The Financial Affairs Committee provided financial assistance to 158 families, with a total disbursement of 1,580,000 Afghanis.
Nineteen families from Spin Boldak, consisting of 120 members, were safely transported to Kandahar, Herat, and Kabul provinces. An amount of 22,000 Afghanis was paid as rent to these families.
In Spin Boldak, various services, particularly healthcare, were provided to the returning refugees. The following assistance was offered:
– Food: Distribution of food and water was carried out, benefiting individuals in Spin Boldak (2,310).
– Health: Medical treatment was provided to (610) returning migrants, and (30) individuals received various vaccines in Spin Boldak.
– Clothing: Refugees in short-term camps received tents, blankets, and additional clothing.
– Communication: The Communication Services Department distributed (400) SIM cards to returning refugees, free of charge, with access to free minutes and internet packages.
The Employment Committee recorded a total of 334 individuals in Spin Boldak today, including 9 bachelor’s degree holders, 1 post-baccalaureate degree holder, (8) religious scholars, 178 unskilled workers, and 138 professionals.
In Spin Boldak, as in previous instances, public awareness sessions were conducted for returning refugees. Topics covered included registration procedures, transportation, financial assistance, temporary settlement, understanding of the country’s Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, and education. Valuable information was shared, and the media collaborated to report on the situation.
Paktika
Angor Ada (Durand Fictitious Line):
Five families returned to the country through Angur base and were successfully registered.
Transport and Transfer Committee:
Five families were safely transferred to their respective regions and provinces from Angur Aday.
The Financial Affairs Committee provided each of the five families in Angur Ada with a donation of 10,000 Afghanis, totaling 50,000 Afghanis.
Various services, including healthcare, were provided to the returning refugees at the Angur base. The following assistance was offered:
– Food: Distribution of 179 meals and clean water took place at Angoor base.
– Health: Treatment was provided to 74 returning refugees, and they received eight different vaccines in Angur Adha and Sharna.
– Communication: The Telecommunication Services Agency distributed 21 SIM cards, each with free minutes and internet packages, to the returned migrants free of charge.
As with previous instances, public awareness sessions were conducted for returning refugees at the Angur base. Topics covered included registration procedures, transportation, financial assistance, temporary settlement, understanding of the country’s Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and the importance of a better future for children.
Herat
Islam Kala Fort
38 families returned to the country through Islam Fort, and biometric procedures were conducted for 83 members of these families who were 14 years of age or older.
The Financial Affairs Committee provided a total of 240,000 Afghanis in donations to 24 families on their way to Islam Fort, with each family receiving 10,000 Afghanis.
Nimroz
Silk Road:
14 families comprising 48 members returned to the country via the Silk Road in Nimroz province and were successfully registered. Additionally, a total of 2,289 passengers also returned to the country.
A total of 50,000,000 Afghanis in cash donations, ranging from 10 to 10,000 Afghanis, were provided to five families en route to Islam Fort.
In Nimroz, 20 families consisting of 64 members were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp. Arrangements were made for their accommodation, clothing, and food. The IOM organization provided both cash and non-cash assistance.
Various services, including healthcare, were provided to the refugees returning via the Nimroz Silk Road.
Notably, 14 SIM cards with free minutes and internet packages were distributed to the refugees by officials from the Communications and Information Technology department.
Public awareness sessions were conducted today for 48 refugees on the Silk Road in Nimroz Province. These sessions provided valuable information about registration procedures, transportation, financial assistance, short-term settlement, understanding of the country’s Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.
Kabul
56 families comprising 162 members were safely transported from Kabul to Kunduz, Balkh, and Khost provinces. The total cost of car rentals for these families amounted to 202,000 Afghanis.

The combined figures for the activities of all routes and committees are as follows:
– Total Registered Migrants: 278 families and 1,047 individuals
– Total Transferred Migrants: 133 families and 701 individuals
– Total Assisted Migrants: 133 families
– Temporarily Settled Migrants: 45 families
– Total Refugees Treated: 684 individuals
– SIM Cards Distributed: 834 digits
