On Tuesday, (02/01/2024) Afghan refugees returned from various routes of the country and received essential services in different areas. Here is a comprehensive report of the day’s activities:

 

Nangarhar

Torkham (Durand Fictitious Line)

 

Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:

19 families arrived in the country through Torkham, and 37 members from these families were successfully registered and underwent biometric identification.

 

Finance Management Committee:

 

The Financial Affairs Committee provided financial assistance to 36 families, granting each family 10,000 Afghanis, resulting in a total of 360,000 Afghanis.

 

Transportation and Transfer Committee:

 

A total of 25 families, comprising 126 members, were safely transported to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul provinces from Torkham. These families were also provided with a rental allowance of 15,000 Afghanis.

 

Services and Health Affairs Committee:

 

The returning refugees at the Torkham camp received various services, including healthcare. The following services were provided:

 

– Food: 900 meals and 80,000 liters of clean water were distributed to the residents of the Torkham camps.

– Food items and clothing: Blankets, flooring materials, gas stoves, 40 packages of raw food items, and other miscellaneous items were distributed to the returning refugees.

– Communications: 108 SIM cards were distributed to the returnees free of charge, accompanied by free minutes and internet packages.

 

Mosques and Education Organizing Committee:

 

In collaboration with the officials from the auxiliary and information department of the Nangarhar province education department, the organizing committee for mosques and education registered 24 students for further education.

The committee completed the initial stages required for these students to enroll in educational institutions. Additionally, the committee facilitated the reintegration of refugees returning through Torkham, whose children’s education was incomplete, by officially transferring them to their respective provinces to continue their education.

 

Job Seeking Committee:

 

The Employment Committee registered a total of 77 individuals in Torkham today, consisting of 7 bachelor’s degree holders, 27 manual laborers, and 43 professionals.

Moreover, the committee provided public awareness sessions to 109 children in Torkham, covering topics such as explosives, hygiene, child protection, Afghanistan, and mental health programs that included games and entertainment.

 

Information and Public Awareness Committee:

 

The committee continued its efforts to raise public awareness among the refugees in Torkham. The following topics were covered.

 

– Registration procedures

– Transfer process

– Financial assistance

– Temporary settlement arrangements

– Understanding of the country, Islamic system, migration, patience, and tolerance

– Education and training

 

Furthermore, the ombudsmen from the Amr Ba-al-Moruf and Nahi-in-ul-Munkar Department of Nangarhar Province extended their awareness campaigns to refugees in various areas. Additionally, in coordination with the IOM office, the committee distributed 35 immigration forms to the refugees.

 

Kandahar

 

Spin Boldak (Durand Fictitious Line)

 

Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:

 

A total of 46 families, consisting of 223 members, returned to the country and underwent registration procedures in Spin Boldak.

 

Finance Management Committee:

 

The Financial Affairs Committee provided financial assistance to 45 families, granting each family 10,000 Afghanis, resulting in a total of 450,000 Afghanis.

 

Transportation and Transfer Committee:

 

9 families with 40 members from Spin Boldak were safely transported to Kandahar and Herat provinces. These families were provided with a rental allowance of 1500 Afghani.

 

Temporary Settlement Committee:

 

In Spin Boldak, 26 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp today.

 

Services and Health Affairs Committee:

 

Returning refugees in Spin Boldak received various services, including health-related assistance, today. The following services were provided:

 

– Food: 500 meals and clean water were distributed in Spin Boldak.

– Health: 256 returnees received medical treatment in Spin Boldak.

– Public awareness: 263 refugees were educated on health-related matters in different areas.

– Clothing: Tents, blankets, and sleeping mats were distributed to refugees in short-term camps.

– Communication: The Department of Communication Services distributed 136 SIM cards to the returning refugees, free of charge, along with free minutes and internet packages.

 

Job Seeking Committee:

 

The Employment Committee recorded a total of 90 individuals in Spin Boldak, including 2 bachelor’s degree holders, 1 hafiz (Quran memorizer), 3 religious scholars, 51 manual laborers, and 29 professionals. Additionally, the committee provided public awareness sessions on explosives, cleanliness, child protection, and Afghanistan to 36 children in Spin Boldak. It is worth noting that the committee successfully reunited a missing child with their family.

 

Paktia

 

Temporary Settlement Committee:

 

3 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp in Paktia.

 

Nimroz

 

Silk Road

 

Registration, Varification and Reception Committee:

 

A total of 33 families with 111 members returned to the country and underwent the registration process. Additionally, 1595 travelers returned to the country through the Silk Road route in Nimroz province.

 

Finance Management Committee:

 

10 families on the Silk Road in Nimroz Province received cash assistance of 10 Afghanis, totaling 100,000 Afghanis.

 

Temporary Settlement Committee:

 

In Nimroz, 31 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp today.

 

Services and Health Affairs Committee:

 

Returning refugees who arrived on the Nimroz Silk Road were provided with various services, including healthcare. The following services were provided:

 

– Communications: 33 SIM cards were distributed to the refugees free of charge, along with free minutes and internet packages.

 

Information and Public Awareness Committee:

 

Public awareness sessions were conducted for 111 refugees on the Silk Road in Nimroz Province. These refugees received valuable information regarding registration, transfer procedures, financial assistance, short-term settlement, and understanding of the country, Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.

 

Herat

 

Temporary Settlement Committee:

33 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp in Herat.

 

Kabul

 

Transportation and Transfer Committee:

 

30 families with 79 members from Kabul were safely transported to Gardiz and Faryab provinces. The total cost of car rentals for these families amounted to 93,500 Afghanis.

 

Summary

 

The total figures for the various activities conducted by all routes and committees are as follows:

 

– Total Registered Migrants: 98 families, 371 individuals

– Total Transferred Migrants: 64 families, 245 individuals

– Total Assisted Migrants: 91 families

– Temporarily Settled Migrants: 93 families
