KABUL, Jan. 30 – Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) announced today that as part of its efforts to maintain the stability of the local currency, it will auction off 16 million US dollars on Wednesday.

The winning bidders in the auction must clear their accounts by the end of the day, according to the Central Bank, which has invited all qualified banks and money exchange businesses to participate in the tender.

The bank also stated that partial settlement of transactions is not permitted and that the auction winners must make a single, timely cash delivery of all amounts owed to Da Afghanistan Bank.

The central bank is auctioning US dollars for the second time in a week.
