The Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhundzada, sealed the deal for the construction of the second phase of the Road, spanning from Broghil to Bazhai Gonbad in the Wakhan district of Badakhshan province. The contract was inked during a meeting with Afghan Sadaqat Company at the ministry’s conference hall, in the presence of media representatives.

During the gathering, the Acting Minister highlighted the significance of the road, emphasizing that the area had long been neglected, depriving its residents of essential amenities. The decision to construct this road was made by the Islamic Emirate to address this issue. Progress on the first phase has already reached the starting point in China, with construction delays attributed to adverse weather conditions. Work is set to resume once weather conditions improve.

Expressing his delight, the Minister announced the official commencement of the second phase’s construction through the signed contract. This road, spanning 71 kilometers in length and approximately 8 meters in width, comes with a price tag of 143 million Afghanis. The construction process is expected to generate employment opportunities for numerous individuals, and upon completion, the road will transform Wakhan into a bustling trade route.

Following the contract signing, the Acting Minister engaged with journalists, answering their inquiries before concluding the meeting with a prayer.
