The groundbreaking ceremony for the Paitakht Steel melting factory, valued at $50 million, took place close to the new industrial park in Balkh province.

Officials have outlined that this factory will span 110 jeribs and will be developed in five phases over the next five years. A significant investment of over $35 million has been allocated for the initial phase, focusing on the production of steel rebars. Subsequent phases will involve girder and steel production, followed by the creation of 6mm wire—a first in Afghanistan.

The factory is expected to yield approximately 500 tons of wire daily, to be utilized in the manufacturing of 3mm, 1mm, nuts, and nails.

Additionally, authorities have revealed plans for constructing an electricity substation with a capacity of 80 to 100 megawatts at the factory site, which will complement the steel production line.
