WARDAK, Aug. 07 – The foundation stone for the construction of a retaining wall at a cost of 106 million Afghanis was laid in Maidan Shahr City, the capital of Maidan Wardag province.

Adressimg the opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor of the province, Mawlawi Sead-ul- Rehman Hafiz, said that thousands of acres of land will be protected from floods by the construction of this retaining wall.

Hafiz added that they are trying to implement similar projects at the provincial level.

Mawlawi Waheedullah Rashid, head of rural reconstruction and development of the said province, said that this wall is 3,600 meters long, 90 percent budget of which is provided by the Ministry of Finance and 10 percent by rural councils and will be completed in 18 months.
