With completion nearing at the Pashdan Dam, the center has undergone a remarkable transition into an entertainment destination for local residents. The culmination of construction and the initiation of irrigation processes have endowed the dam with a unique allure and magnificence. Consequently, it has evolved into a favored spot for leisure and amusement among the inhabitants of Herat.
Despite the chilly weather, a multitude of Herat residents congregated at the Pashdan Dam on Friday, drawn by the prevailing peace and security. These individuals assert that the establishment of security measures has paved the way for the reconstruction of dams, fostering an environment conducive to relaxation and appreciation of the country’s water features.
Expressing their desires, these citizens implore the authorities of the Islamic Emirate to expedite the remaining tasks at the dam and develop designated recreational areas around it for the public’s enjoyment.
The populace believes that the construction of water reservoirs will not only address the irrigation needs of impoverished farmers but also generate employment opportunities, supply electricity, and propel the nation’s development.
Concurrently, the lead engineer overseeing the Pashdan Dam informed a Bakhtar Agency correspondent that over 400 individuals are presently engaged in the project in Herat province, aiming to conclude the dam by year-end.
Moreover, Mufti Muhammad Yusuf Saeedi, the spokesperson for the Herat Governor, articulated, “The local administration of Herat is actively striving to foster employment opportunities for the youth through significant initiatives. A prominent instance is the Pashdan Dam, where progress has surpassed 90%.”
The Pashdan Dam boasts a water storage capacity of 45 million cubic meters, the potential to generate two megawatts of electricity, and irrigate 13,000 hectares of agricultural land, all achieved at an estimated cost of 117 million dollars.
