PAKTIKA, May. 09 – The project of Bazi Khil dame in Janikhel District of Paktia Province has been completed at the cost of 91519.32 US dollars with the financial support of the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency, the Liaison Office (TLO) and technical cooperation under the supervision of Paktia River Sub-Division Department.

In the ceremony organized in this regard, the head of Paktia Sindiza sub-district department Maulvi Mohammad Karim Fateh and the technical delegation of this department, the provincial responsible engineer Sharifullah Ayubi and the employees of the said institution, the district governor of Jani Khilo district Mawlawi Shaukat Saeed, local Officials, representatives of the Department of Economy and Agriculture, scholars, tribal leaders and youth participated.

The welcome speech was given by Mr. Mawlawi Shaukat Saeed, district governor of Jani Khil congratulated the participants on the launch of this dam and canal project and thanked the efforts and actions of Paktia sub-district department and partner institution in this regard.

Engineer Sharifullah Ayoubi, provincial manager of the associate institution of the communication office presented comprehensive information about the dam and the canal and said to prevent this dam, retaining walls with a length of 114 meters have been built on both sides of the dam and also a canal with a length of 82 meters has been built. He also added that 1700 families will benefit from this dam and canal. With its help, 400 acres of agricultural land will be irrigated.

Mawlawi Mohammad Karim Fateh, Chairman of Paktia River Sub-Division thanked the officials of the liaison office for the basic implementation of this project and praised their actions and efforts in the development of the country. He also called on domestic and international organizations and institutions to take active part in the reconstruction of the country. Mr. Fateh shared his future plans with the participants and insisted on maintaining balance in the implementation of development programs.

The ceremony ended with the participants cutting the veil and saying a prayer.
