Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Yunus Akhundzada, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Rural Development and Reconstruction, along with his delegation, paid a visit to oversee the ongoing construction of the large storage dam in the Qads district of Badghis province.
Situated 70 kilometers from Qala Nu, the provincial capital of Badghis, the Qads Great Dam assumes a crucial role in water management along the Qads River, effectively curbing floods. This dam boasts a water capacity of around 3 million cubic meters and stands at a height of 32 meters, with a total expenditure of 12.5 million US dollars sourced from the Ministry’s development budget.
As per official statements, the Qads Grand Dam stands as a vital public project with significant implications for the inhabitants of the Qads district. The dam’s completion promises enhanced agricultural and livestock prospects for residents, subsequently bolstering the local economy.
Upon the dam’s finalization, an estimated 1400 hectares of agricultural land will benefit from irrigation, fostering employment opportunities in agriculture for the area’s populace.
