PARWAN, Oct. 19 – The repair and reconstruction work of 30 km of Salang highway, including 10 km of concrete tunnel has been started by the Ministry of Public Works, said the ministry in a statement.

The highway consist on Salang Pass which is the primary mountain pass connecting northern Afghanistan with Parwan Province, with onward connections to Kabul Province.
According to the statement 20 km highway is asphalted and reinforcement application (base course, CTB) for concreting in gallery number 13 has been started.

It is worth noting that this is the first time in the past few years that the damaged parts of the Salang highway is being repaired and reconstructed.
