As per a statement of ARG today, H.E Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Political Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, convened a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr. Zhao Xing, and his accompanying delegation at his office.
During the discussion, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Xing highlighted the burgeoning prospects for economic and trade ventures in Afghanistan. He underscored the necessity for bolstering cooperation across a spectrum of sectors between the two nations. Ambassador Zhao Sheng noted a rise in Afghanistan’s exports to China by 11.5 percent this year, with hopes for a surge to 25 percent in the upcoming year.
Ambassador Zhao Xing announced that the Chinese government intends to eliminate taxes on Afghan exports in December, a move anticipated to elevate the export levels of Afghan goods to China and generate employment opportunities for numerous Afghans. He disclosed plans to inaugurate a new economic passageway with Afghanistan via Tajikistan, with preparations underway for a tripartite meeting involving Tajikistan, China, and Afghanistan. Additionally, efforts are being made to activate Wakhan.
Discussing Afghanistan’s progress, Ambassador Zhao Xing expressed China’s interest in investing in various regions of Afghanistan and executing development initiatives. He advocated for international support in implementing projects within Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of dialogue and negotiations in resolving issues.
Political Deputy Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Kabir welcomed Mr. Zhao Xing and commended China’s decision to exempt Afghan exports from taxes, foreseeing favorable outcomes for Afghan businesspersons and the country’s economy. He urged neighboring nations to consider similar actions.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir expressed gratitude for China’s supportive stance towards the Islamic Emirate on the global stage, expressing hopes for continued cooperation. He concluded by highlighting the significance of the Wakhan Road in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
