Officials from the Herat Information and Culture Department have inaugurated a permanent calligraphy exhibition at Ikhtiardin Qala in Herat. The exhibition aims to uphold and honor the esteemed tradition of Islamic calligraphy.

Maulvi Hamidullah Ghayati, the Director of Culture and Art at the Information and Culture Department, emphasized the ongoing efforts to preserve and advance the art of calligraphy. He highlighted that showcasing this exhibition at the historically and culturally significant site of Ikhtiardin Qala will help introduce Herat’s unique calligraphic heritage to a global audience.

Representatives from the Herat Calligraphers’ Association revealed that forty exquisite calligraphic pieces are on display at the exhibition. Notably, during the Timurid era, calligraphy held a revered status as a hallmark of the renowned Herat art school, underscoring the city’s rich artistic legacy.
