During a press conference convened at the Government Media and Information Center, officials representing the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs unveiled their annual performance update.
According to ministry authorities, in the preceding year, the ministry effectively orchestrated 34 major assemblies, 3 extraordinary conventions, and 16 provincial sessions.
Moreover, the ministry identified 700 local concerns and channelled them to the relevant bodies, resulting in the approval of 400 projects by competent entities.
Key achievements spotlighted by the ministry encompass the successful completion of road infrastructure initiatives in various districts of Zabul and Panjshir provinces, the execution of measures to address electricity shortages in Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, and Logar provinces, and the establishment of telecommunications networks in Pamir district, Badakhshan province.
Officials underscored a significant reduction in ethnic conflicts since the resurgence of the Islamic Emirate. Through the orchestration of 304 gatherings and 525 consultations in the past year, the ministry effectively mediated longstanding disputes, tensions, and hostilities among diverse ethnic groups and communities.
Prominent conflict resolutions include a 50-year dispute involving the Achakzai, Taheri, and other ethnic groups in Rabat Sangi district, Herat province, a 20-year conflict in Abkamari district, Badghis province, a 24-year discord between the Hazara and Kochi tribes in Ghazni province, and a 40-year feud in Abshar district, Panjshir province.
Officials reiterated the ministry’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national borders as a paramount objective. Substantial endeavors were undertaken in this domain over the past year.
The ministry also announced the establishment of a Border Ports Directorate, which collaborated with national border authorities to streamline services for patients, migrants, and travelers at border posts in Nangarhar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Zabul, Kandahar, Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Kunduz, Takhar, Faryab, and Balkh provinces.
Throughout the year, the ministry conducted extensive research and studies spanning diverse sectors such as culture, demographics, geography, education, economics, development, agriculture, and livestock. This resulted in the comprehensive collection of data from Badghis, Ghazni, Paktia, and Farah provinces, along with the development of district-level maps for border regions.
Currently, 7,104 students are enrolled in schools overseen by the ministry, with 699 students graduating and 1,632 new entrants admitted in the past year. A new educational institution named “Pamir” was established in Faizabad, Badakhshan province, specifically tailored for Pamiri students, with ongoing recruitment efforts for teachers and staff at the school.
Authorities highlighted that both financial and non-financial aid was extended to nomadic (Kuchi) families impacted in several provinces, including Badghis, Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh, Takhar, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Helmand, Paktika, Uruzgan, Bamyan, Kunar, and Maidan Wardak.
Moreover, 100 mobile clinics and 11 permanent healthcare centers were operational nationwide, offering medical services to nomads, while 60 veterinary clinics were dedicated to livestock care. Educational initiatives were launched to promote livestock farming and enhance the nomadic economy, with 40 pasture land-related issues identified and coordinated with the relevant authorities.
The ministry also made significant progress in policy formulation, including the drafting of regulations for managing dormitories at 11 educational facilities, protocols for organizing pasture lands and nomadic settlements, technical documentation for data security policies, a framework for resolving ethnic disputes, and the activation of an electronic library system.
